The first two lines of text appear to be struck in the original, but we preserve them in both the transcription and reading versions, as they are needed to introduce the rest of the text. Muse's intention was perhaps to indicate that this entire version of the Smart P. Livingston notes was obsolete, but this is unclear because the majority of the text is not crossed out.
