In several documents, when referring to state and county boards of instruction, Muse writes the final word in plural. Washington</ref> (2 of 2), and <mentioned>Board of Public Instructions of Duval County</mentioned> in <ref target="./jhs-195918-02-11.xml">Harden Woodham Stuckey (1 of 2)</ref> and <ref target="./jhs-195918-09-02.xml">Harden Woodham Stuckey (2 of 2)</ref>.</p>
         <p xml:id="boylanSchool"><mentioned>Boylan School</mentioned>. The Boylan School was an institution for the education of African American girls.          <p xml:id="earthquake"><mentioned>Earthquake, c.1888.</mentioned> At multiple places in the notes and narratives based on Muse's interview with Irene Coats, reference is made to an earthquake that took place in approximately 1888. In most instances, this is described as happening in South Carolina, but in others it appears that Jacksonville experience the event as well.</p>
         <p xml:id="pomper"><mentioned>pomper</mentioned>. The <title level="m"><ref target="./vmde-abbreviations.xml#oed">OED</ref></title> registers <mentioned>pomper</mentioned> as a variant of <mentioned>pamper</mentioned> that is mainly a regional usage in the United States. <title level="m"><ref target="./vmde-abbreviations.xml#dare">DARE</ref></title> gathers the term as well.</p>
