                  art which is considered one of the<lb/>
                  most difficult aggregation of men<lb/>
                  to portray in pen or paint, has been<lb/>
                  done in oil by <name type="person"><choice><abbr>Prof.</abbr><expan>Professor</expan></choice> John Henry Adams</name><choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice><lb/>
                  a Georgian born near <name type="place" subtype="city">Albany</name>. As an<lb/>
                  artist<choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice> he is considered equally as proficient<lb/>
                  in pen, pencil, charcoal<choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice> and oil painting<choice><orig/><reg>.</reg></choice><lb/>
                  While he has never painted or drawn for<lb/>
                  a livelihood<choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice> he indulges in the art for<lb/>
                  the simple love of it. He was a teacher<lb/>
            in his early life, first at <name type="institution" subtype="educational_institution">Morris Brown<lb/>
                     University</name>, <name type="place" subtype="city">Atlanta, <choice><abbr>Ga</abbr><expan>Georgia</expan></choice></name>; traveling representa<choice><orig>-</orig><reg/></choice><lb break="no"/>tive
                  for the <choice><orig>'</orig><reg/></choice><title level="m">Voice of the Negro</title><choice><orig>"</orig><reg/></choice><choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice> a periodical;<lb/>
                  was a journalist of no mean ability as<lb/>
                  well as editor <choice><orig>^</orig><reg/></choice><add type="caret">of colored page</add> of two of the outstanding<lb/>
            Southern newspapers, <title level="m">Florida Times<choice><orig> </orig><reg>-</reg></choice>Union</title><choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice><lb/>
            <title level="m">Jacksonville Journal</title>, and <del type="strikeout">the Florida Sentinel</del><lb/>
            a colored weekly<choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice> <hi style="underline"><title level="m">The Florida Sentinel</title></hi>;<lb/>
            <choice><orig>Operated</orig><reg>operated</reg></choice> a print shop in <name type="place" subtype="city">Waycross, <choice><abbr>Ga</abbr><expan>Georgia</expan></choice></name><choice><orig/><reg>;</reg></choice> <del type="strikeout">and</del> <lb/>

         <p>He painted a <choice><orig>life size</orig><reg>life-size</reg></choice> picture of late<lb/>
            <name type="person"><choice><abbr>Gen.</abbr><expan>General</expan></choice> W.W. Andrews</name>, Grand Chancellor of<lb/>
            <name type="institution" subtype="non-profit">Knights of Pythias of Florida</name>. The painting<lb/>
            now hangs in the <choice><sic>Andrews</sic><corr>Andrews'</corr></choice> home at<lb/>
            <name type="place" subtype="address">511 Clay <choice><abbr>St</abbr><expan>Street</expan></choice></name>, <name type="place" subtype="city">Jacksonville, <choice><abbr>Fla</abbr><expan>Florida</expan></choice></name>.<lb/>
