                  a <name type="place" subtype="city"><ptr target="jacksonville-fl"/>Jacksonville</name> man, <name type="person"><choice><sic>Portia</sic><corr>Porcher</corr></choice> Taylor</name><choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice><note type="contextual" subtype="biographical"><p>Porcher Taylor was the founder and editor of the <title level="m">Florida Tattler</title>.                desires of the people who support a paper<lb/>
               can be changed to higher ideals. Its<lb/>
               effect upon the youth of the community is<lb/>
               keenly felt<choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice> especially at this time when<lb/>
               teachers in the public schools are having<lb/>
               such hard struggles to interest the boys<lb/>
               <choice><abbr>&amp;</abbr><expan>and</expan></choice> girls in reading <choice><orig>worth while</orig><reg>worthwhile</reg></choice> matter. The<lb/>
               adult life of the community is depicted to<lb/>
               the growing child as base and common<choice><orig/><reg>,</reg></choice><lb/>
               and its psychological effect is pronounced.<lb/>
